Amazon.com presents people with a great opportunity to sell products on the platform. It is essentially a way for everyday people to make money from an eCommerce business while also taking advantage of all the resources Amazon has. For example, their marketing is huge, and they have plenty of resources that sellers can use to their advantage.
However, simply listing products on Amazon won’t guarantee sales. There are several things that you should do to make sure your listing catches the eyes of prospective buyers. Here are some things you should do that could help boost sales to your Amazon product listings:
Optimize the Titles
The title of your listing is the first impression that is given to a potential customer. It should be clear and concise in regards to what you are offering. While Amazon recommends you use a short title to create interest, they allow 150-250 characters to be used. This gives you a lot of space to include relevant information in your title.
Here’s a look at some of the things you should include in your title, where relevant:
- Brand Information
- Options that are available, such as size, color, etc.
- Name of the product
Don’t stuff your title with keywords. Your title should inform the customer about the product before they purchase, and it should use the best keywords possible.
Using Amazon’s A9 algorithm, you can search for similar products, and Amazon will auto-complete your searches. This will give ideas on what the best keywords are that people are searching for.
Select a Great Image
Having a great photo is crucial to your click-through rate on Amazon. A great picture of what your customer wants is a guaranteed click. Your photos should be a minimum of 1000 x 1000 pixels for the zoom feature to work. It is recommended that they be 2000 x 2000 pixels, so they don’t distort when the customer zooms in.
Your main photo must have a white background and contain only the product you are selling. Do not include accessories, text, models, or color options in your main image because this could confuse your customer.
You are allowed 5-9 additional images that can show the customer’s options. While you should use all available picture spots, do not fill them with sub-standard images. You don’t want your presentation to look cheap.
Amazon allows you to include up to five bullet points in order to describe your product, and you are not limited to five words or five sentences for each bullet point. Knowing this, you should be as descriptive as possible in describing the main features of the product. You should also address common questions and clear up negative perceptions about your product.
Writing up to four sentences to create short paragraphs for each bullet point is ideal. Any longer than that, and you might be too wordy. People on Amazon tend to scan listings, and it doesn’t take them long to make a choice. If you have too much text, this could be a turnoff.
It is also best to use your first three bullet points to describe the best features of the product, then address common questions about it in the last two bullets. Be sure to use bold text and italics to emphasize features and benefits. To maximize your product descriptions, take advantage of the new Enhanced Brand Content feature, which allows for more photos and more descriptive text.
By following these tips, you could absolutely boost sales to your Amazon listings. You want to do everything you can in order to reach your sales goals!
